The CBU Long Knights Robotics Team was founded in the Fall of 2022, by Mr. Titus Rehard, a Computer Science major. CBU Robotics competes in the VEX U Robotics Competition where each season presents hundreds of teams with the challenge of building two robots to compete in a unique game. During months of participating in local competitions and collecting awards along the way, each team strives to qualify for the World Championship, the pinnacle of the VEX U competition.

Except for the team’s first season, CBU Robotics has qualified for the World Championship every year since. About eight individuals actively shared in the team’s first season where they attended one competition but were unable to participate due to the accidental violation of a rule regarding robot size. In addition to an increased team membership of fifteen, the second year of the team saw the CBU Long Knights advance to the World Championship for the first time where they won the Sportsmanship Award. In the 2024-2025 season, team membership expanded again, reaching about 30 members, and the team advanced for the second time to the World Championship, where they won the Build Award. As CBU Robotics doubled in size during its early years, the team elected to create a leadership structure to manage the team by facilitating smooth function and ensuring that each member could make meaningful contributions.
